From 2015 to 2020, she served on the Board of Governors of the MAOFP, and in 2018-2019 was the association’s youngest president to date. She brings a wealth of experience in leadership to her PD role and mentors students residents to develop their leadership skills. She attends Michigan Family Medicine Advocacy Day annually where she collaborates with Michigan legislators about health policy. She also serves as the Advocacy Chair for the Michigan Association of Osteopathic Family Physicians (MAOFP) and ACOFP Resolution Review Committee. She enjoys the resolution writing process, participating in the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) Congress of Delegates and Michigan Osteopathic Association (MOA) House of Delegates annually. Young is an advocate to the profession, speaking on advocacy at state and national conferences including AOA DO Day on the Hill. She led the first IRB approved randomized control trial on OMT at Ascension St John in the care of ICU patients.ĭr. She also loves incorporating osteopathic manipulation into patient care, even in the inpatient setting. She obtained her certification in practice management (CPPM) in 2021 while serving as the Clinic Director of McLaren Greater Lansing Family Medicine Residency Program. She is passionate about the business of medicine and practice management. After spending 4 years in private practice, Dr Young returned to education in 2019. She attended Family Medicine Residency at Ascension St John Macomb-Oakland. Young completed her undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry at Central Michigan University in 2008, followed by her doctorate degree at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2012. In return, our residents provide compassionate and quality care and exhibit a strong work ethic.Dr. I pride myself in giving residents autonomy and the time and space to grow as human beings - not just as physicians. In our program, you will never feel alone, you will never feel unappreciated and you will never be made to feel less than the medical expert that you are. My personal approach to teaching is to provide residents space to grow with the support to do so safely. Whether it is navigating new hospital or clinic relationships, facing the pandemic, dealing with life and death in our own families we do it together. So what makes us special? Our Urban Track residents spend their continuity days at RAFM as well as continuity clinics in other underserved areas like Detroit and Pontiac.Īs you journey through interviews and internet searches for Family Medicine residencies you will find that no two are exactly alike, nor are they all that different. Most of our residents have continuity patients in our Rochester Academic Family Medicine office on the hospital's campus. Our base hospital is Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital.
